Whitby lies on the coast, on the fringes of the northern North York Moors. A lovely approach is via the scenic North York Moors Steam Railway. Whitby has featured in many literary works, most famously Dracula and Moby Dick, and a trip to this atmospheric fishing port testifies to its dramatic appeal. Close by is the picturesque village of Robin Hood’s Bay, which marks the end of the coast-to-coast national trail.
