Trains - Newcastle Central

  • Rail travel to Northumbria and Tyneside is quick and easy as the area is well served by the British railway network. Direct intercity trains run to Scotland, London and the south of England on the east coast mainline.
  • Intercity trains to and from Newcastle and the North East coast to the west of England run on the transpennine rail line with GNER and Virgin trains to Leeds, Bradford and Manchester.

Tyne & Wear Metro

Newcastle and Sunderland have a fast local Metro transit system around the suburbs and town centres. Metro trains run to the airport station from across Tyne and Wear, also linking to the mainline railway stations at Newcastle and Sunderland.
