Otterburn is the scene of perhaps the Scot's greatest ever victory over the English in 1388. When James II Earl of Douglas defeated the army of Sir Henry Percy, though he paid the ultimate price for his victory and the saying 'a dead man won the battle' was coined.
Otterburn Tower, was built by the cousin of William the Conqueror in 1076, it combines almost a thousand years of history with a modern service to it's guests.
Otterburn Mill is a worthwhile visit and is famed for its tweed, it contains historic machinery, artefacts, quality textiles, and craft products, and now houses a shop and visitor centre.
