The Port of Hull, approximately 70 miles east of Sheffield, is conveniently located for ferries to mainland Europe from the Rother and Don Valleys.

Goole, at one time a busy Victorian ferry port, was closed and replaced by the Hull "Southern Bypass" road. It is earmarked for future development back into a working port.
