Rotherham has been an important centre where the rivers Rother and Don converge for many centuries, and one of only four surviving bridge chapels stands majestically in the town centre. A former steel works houses a new visitor attraction, Magna, which is billed as, ‘the UK’s first Science Adventure Centre’, and to the south-east of the town is the Rother Valley Country Park, which has a water-sport centre, a nature reserve and a craft centre among its plentiful attractions.
