Ribblesdale cuts through the dramatic Pennines, which are often referred to as the 'backbone of England’. As well as offering striking scenery, there are man-made feats that are just as arresting; there is the historic market town of Settle that boasts an impressive array of architecure; and the Ribblehead Viaduct that spans 24 arches, and stands over 100 feet above the valley floor. This locality is also famed for its walks: the Ribble Way, the Pennine Way and the Three Peaks.
