Bedale is a small market town at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. The town is full of beautiful Georgian buildings surrounding the broad market place housing unusual craft and antique shops. Bedale has a magnificent church that dominates the north end of the town and the 14th century Market Cross stands centrepiece.
The Bedale Museum is situated in a wing of Bedale Hall and its archives cover local history and feature items of historical interest such as the town fire engine that dates from 1748.
