To the East of Wharfedale are the attractive old towns of Tadcaster and Wetherby. Tadcaster is famed for its ale, as several of Yorkshire’s best-loved bitters are brewed in the town. Nearby, is one of the county’s most impressive stately homes; the Harewood House estate features the work of Robert Adam, Thomas Chippendale and Capabilty Brown, amongst others. Wetherby is a firm favourite with northern race-goers, who come to enjoy the Wetherby Steeplechases.
