Industrial West Yorkshire Travel Guide

Traditional Yorkshire Town

Like other northern cities, Leeds has experienced a renaissance in recent years. This is the land of wool and cloth and the remains of mills and weavers cottages are dotted throughout the green hills and open moorland. The Bronte sisters made this area famous and their home at Haworth is now a museum. There are some charming old stone towns like Holmfirth and Hebden Bridge - home of Ted Hughes and burial place of Sylvia Plath - which bear testament to the old industrial past. Harewood House and the Worth Valley Railway are also popular.
