This is a little gem of a place to eat.
Gimbals have a warm and friendly atmosphere, the staff are always attentive but not pushy, you don’t feel at all rushed when eating. The food is simply to die for, one of my favourites is the pork belly with sweet mustard sauce, the best pork belly I have ever had and not too fatty with a delectable crunchy crackled top.
The owners Simon and Janet truly love Gimbals and you can see Janet's floorless eye for design everywhere you look. The menu changes every month and the prices are very good with starters around £5.
The owners go to a lot of trouble finding the best of everything and have excellent contacts for wine, meat and bread. On many occasions I have tried to recreate dishes I have eaten at Gimbals but I don’t come close. I would strongly advise you to visit Gimbals and Sowerby Bridge is very up and coming with new developments popping up all over the place.
