The West Yorkshire Playhouse is situated in the heart of Leeds city centre, close to a range of amenities including shops, restaurants and bars.

The playhouse opened in March 1990, and has gained a reputation as one of Britain’s most exciting producing theatres. The playhouse complex hosts a range of facilities including The Quarry Theatre (750 seats), The Courtyard Theatre (350 seats) a CAMRA award-winning bar, a restaurant, The Newlyn Gallery, two function rooms, three rehearsal spaces, a recording studio, extensive technical workshops, dressing rooms, a Costume Hire department, a Cyber Café and offices for production, administrative and artistic teams.

  • West Yorkshire Playhouse produces 16 of its own shows each year in its two theatres, and stages over 1000 performances, workshops, readings and community events, watched by over 250,000 people. The complex is also widely used as a meeting place for both business and pleasure
