Howden is an unassuming town in the west of East Yorkshire that has an unexpected treasure in the shape of an impressive Minster Church, which is overlooked by the picturesque ruins of the original chancel and choir.

The 135 ft tower of the Minster Church can be seen across the flat landscape for miles. The Minster marks the centre of what was once a major market town and a key remaining part of the partially-ruined church.

The town also bears traces of its medieval past with narrow cobbled alleyways, radiating from the Minster grounds.
