With no port within the Carlisle & Cumbrian region, the closest ports are Heysham, for ferries to Ireland and the Isle of Man, and at Newcastle, for crossings from mainland Europe.

Heysham Ferry Port

Heysham Habour is on the south edge of Morecombe Bay with ferries to Larne in Northern Ireland and Douglas in the Isle of Man.

Newcastle Ferry Port

The East Coast Port of Tyne is eight miles east of Newcastle city centre on the north bank of the River Tyne. There are numerous ferry terminals within the port providing passenger and freight ferries to Norway, Sweden and Holland.
