With excellent local train services and links to London and the rest of the UK, the Carlisle & Cumbrian Coast is easily accesible.

First North Western trains run along Cumbria's coastline to St Bees at the western end of the Coast to Coast walk.

The Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway runs from Ravenglass on the coast, through Eskdale, into Dalegarth on the edge of Lake District.

Arriva Trains Northern run local services through Carlisle, plus the Trans-Pennine Express route between the east and west coasts via Manchester and Leeds.

First Great Western trains run along the north-west coast and into the Lake District. From Carlisle, trains along the coast stop at Maryport, Workington, St Bees, Ravenglass, Bootle, Barrow in Furness, Grange over Sands and Carnforth before rejoining the mainline at Lancaster.

Virgin Trains also serve Carlisle providing cross-country services between London Euston and Paddington, the Midlands, north-west England, Wales and Scotland.
