Northwich’s prosperity was built on salt production, and like Nantwich, the town has been involved in the industry since Roman times. This central element of town life is uncovered at the Salt Museum and the Lion Salt Works. Knutsford is one of Cheshire’s most well to do suburbs, which is very evident by the number of attractive houses and upmarket shops. Just outside town is Tatton Park, which boasts two historic houses, vast parklands, award-winning gardens, and a working farm, among its many attractions.
