Knutsford's most famous resident was Elizabeth Gaskell, who was sent to live with her aunt after the death of her mother, when she was a very small child. The town and surrounding countryside feature in many of the author’s works and you can find out more about Mrs Gaskell at the Knutsford Heritage Centre.
Knutsford has beautiful surrounding countryside, quaint towns and lovely villages, it is a popular spot for eating out with it's various restaurants and bars.
The village has many small boutiques and antique shops, purveryors of wines, cheese and herbs, and galleries of art and interior design. Many coffee houses and inns - there is a choice to satisfy all.
