The Romans set up camp in Lancaster, and nearly 1,000 years later the Normans built a castle on that ancient site. There are a couple of good museums to check-out: the Maritime Museum and the City & King’s Own Museum. Also worth a look is the St. George’s Quay area, which has an attractive array of 18th century buildings.
