St. Helens is an important glass manufacturing centre, and is home to the World of Glass Museum. The town’s other claim to fame is that, the first canal of the Industrial Revolution, the Sankey Navigation, was built here in the 18th century. Newton-le-Willows is near the Sankey Valley Park, and is also home to Haydock Park Races.
