Warrington has overtaken Burton-on-Trent as the country’s beer-making capital; more ale is brewed here than any other part of the country.
It is a far more attractive place than its near neighbours and the medieval street plan prevails in part, despite widespread rebuilding that took place in the 18th century.
The Warrington Museum and Art Gallery features a great collection of English watercolours and ceramics as well as exhibits charting local history. Lewis Carroll was born in Daresbury near Warrington in 1832 and a there is a stained glass window in the Parish Church in his memory.
