St. Andrews is a gorgeous, historic town on the east Fife coast. Small and immaculately preserved, nearly every building is listed. Ancient university buildings dominate the town, which has a distinctly collegiate air about it. The town’s other claim to fame is as the home of golf: the sport has been played on St Andrews links for over 600 years, and the 18-hole modern game was created here in 1764. The coast to the south of the town is peppered with lovely fishing villages like East Neuk, Crail, Anstruther, Pittenweem, Elie & Earlsferry.
