Pittenweem lies a couple of miles along the coast from Anstruther and is another picturesque Fife fishing village with a still very active fishing community. The village seems to have found particular heart among artists and painters who flock here for the gorgeous coastline and scenery.

Every August there is a weeklong arts festival, which draws people from all over Scotland when many of the local homes become open houses and galleries. If you can't make the festival there are still a number of local art galleries in town to browse.

  • The beautiful Kellie Castle is worth a visit, it is a 17th century house two miles north of Pittenweem. The Castle offers a tour, which will tell you how a relatively unimproved castle could be turned into a fine country home in the late 1800s. The beautiful walled gardens are to the north of the castle and are open all year round. There is also a tearoom and a shop on the premises.
