Passenger & vehicle ferries cross daily from Larne or Belfast, Northern Ireland to Stranraer & Cairnryan, Dumfries & Galloway. The ferry crossing from Scotland to Ireland takes just one hour 45 mins on the Stena high speed Seacats or three hrs 15 mins on the more traditional Superferries.

  • Ferry services between Scotland and Europe are operated by Superfast Ferries. The ferry route is between Rosyth, Scotland and Zeebruge, Belgium. The ferry crossing takes about 17 - 18 hours overnight. From Dumfries, Rosyth is about 104 miles, 2 hours drive to the north.

Alternatively, you can sail to nearby ports in the north-east of England. Newcastle, about 2 hours 30 mins drive has ferries from Bergen or Stavanger in Norway and Ijmuiden, near Amsterdam. Hull, a 2 hour drive to Dumfries and Galloway, has ferry sailings to Zeebrugge and Rotterdam.
