The main Grampian towns and cities have direct mainline rail links to London, Birmingham and Plymouth plus excellent local train services run by Scotrail. The direct train journey to Aberdeen from London is scenic and relaxing as it travels along the east coast via Perth and Dundee.

Aberdeen is the main railway station for the rail network across the Grampian Highlands and Royal Deeside. From Aberdeen there are hourly trains to Glasgow and Edinburgh plus services north to Inverness and onwards to the Highlands & Islands.
