The county of Angus has a host of things to see and do: Carnoustie is a popular golfing resort that boasts one of the world’s finest courses; and to the north is Glamis, sight of Glamis Castle, which was the family home of the Queen Mother. In the county town of Forfar you will find the fascinating Meffen Institute Museum & Art Gallery, and in Kirriemuir, you can visit the birthplace of Peter Pan author J.M. Barrie. Though perhaps the most significant site is Arbroath Abbey, where Scottish nobles made the Declaration of Arbroath in the 13th century.

2009 marks the 250th anniversary of Scottish poet Robert Burns' birth. Burns was a poet and a lyricist and is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland.
The Burns Supper was started a few years after his death by a group of his friends; they held the supper to honour and remember Burns. The tradition caught on and the ritual of Burns Supper is now held all around the world.
His life and work will be celebrated throughout the year at many Burns-related events.
