Perth is one of the Scotland's most historic cities, and like Dunfermline, was once the nation's capital. The city sits on the River Tay, and on the opposite bank is Scone, the first coronation place of Scots kings. Kinross is a small town, but it boasts a number of historic buildings: Kinross House was built by the architect who designed Holyrood House; the tollbooth is by Robert Adam; and a few miles out of town in Loch Leven Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots was once imprisoned. And this locality is also home to one of the country's most famous golfcourses; Gleaneagles.
