Although Harris and Lewis is theoretically one island (their division being traced back to the break up of the MacLeod clan), Harris is by far a more majestic and attractive location. The BBC reality show Castaway was filmed on a small island off the south of Harris called Taransay.

Dramatic hills plunge into aqua waters, while barren boulder capped landscape paints a picture of an inhospitable and wild land in the north. The south of Harris is a calmer affair, with undulating hills and gentle shores.

  • Harris does not prosper on the same industry as Lewis and is suffering as the somewhat poorer cousin. For the visitors, there is a wealth of beauty to indulge upon and many interesting sites that are worth visiting.
