Orkney Travel Guide

The Orkney archipelago comprises at least seventy islands, and like Shetland, did not become a British territory until the 15th century, when it was gifted to King James III by the Norwegian king. Of the islands, seventeen are inhabited, with the most people living on Mainland. The isles are packed with Neolithic remains, and also support masses of wildlife – making it a great destination, with loads of things to see and do.
