The tiny island of Papa Westray would have to be credited as the most peaceful location in all of Orkney.

With a population of around 70, 'Papay' as it is otherwise known, surprisingly has some major attractions that are worth making a day trip for.

  • The oldest standing Neolithic farmhouse in Europe known as Knap of Howar lies on the western shore, while just up the road from this, you will find the restored St Boniface Kirk.
