Edinburgh & Lothian Travel Guide

Edinburgh Castle - P Aidan O'Rourke

Highlight of the region is the nations capital, Edinburgh. The beautiful Georgian and Victorian architecture with imposing Castle Rock, Arthur’s Seat and Pentland Hills make it one of the most dramatic cities in Britain, presenting constantly changing views while walking its streets. But with a large university and cosmopolitan population it is less ‘Scottish’ perhaps than other cities. Surrounding Lothian is mainly gentle farmland. East along the coast from the capital lies Bass Rock and a number of attractive towns and resorts.
