Overview

This major Scottish international airport is just outside Edinburgh & also close to Glasgow. Ideally located at the heart of the Lothian transport system for flying to Scotland from the UK & Europe.

Low cost flights are available from Edinburgh to Dublin, Belfast & Cardiff with further destinations to be added. Easyjet & Ryanair are the main budget airlines with cheap flights to London, Dublin, Amsterdam & more.

Transport to & from EDI

Edinburgh airport is easy to travel to being well served by all forms of transport. An easy 15 minute drive from the A8 road just 7 miles west of the city, the route is less congested than the roads to Glasgow Airport.

Hire cars, taxis, coaches & buses are all available from the airport terminal. The closest railway station is Edinburgh Waverley, a short taxi ride away, with mainline trains to & from all parts of Lothian, Scotland & England.

The airport access road is well signposted from the A8 between the Gogar and Newbridge roundabouts.

Celebrate - The National Poet of Scotland

Robert Burns

2009 marks the 250th anniversary of Scottish poet Robert Burns' birth. Burns was a poet and a lyricist and is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland.

The Burns Supper was started a few years after his death by a group of his friends; they held the supper to honour and remember Burns. The tradition caught on and the ritual of Burns Supper is now held all around the world.

His life and work will be celebrated throughout the year at many Burns-related events.
