Easy to drive to, the Scottish Borders have major road links to the north of England and central Scotland. Bordered by the M74 to the west and the A1M up the east coast, hiring a car is any easy way to visit Selkirk, Moffat, Jedburgh and Peebles on the River Tweed Valley. Minor roads in the east are signposted for historic towns and attractions such as Walter Scott's mansion at Abbotsford or the Tweeddale Museum at Peebles.
