Arran & Inner Hebrides to Glasgow

  • Ferries to the Islands of Bute, Arran, Islay, Jura, Colonsay and Oransay land at various mainland ports including Ardrossan, Oban and Wemyss Bay all within easy travelling distance of Glasgow and the rest of Strathclyde. Caledonian MacBrayne (Calmac) operate the Hebrides and Clyde ferry services to 22 islands and four peninsulas on the west of Scotland. Bute - Wemyss Bay - Glasgow

  • Ferry crossing - 35 mins
  • Drive to central Glasgow - A78 to Greenock, A8 & M8 to River Clyde & Kingston Bridge
  • 44 miles, 35 mins approx

Mull - Oban - Glasgow

  • Ferry crossing - 45 mins
  • Drive to Glasgow A85, A83 & M8
  • 92 miles, 2 hours 20 mins

Arran - Ardrossan - Glasgow

  • Ferry crossing - 55 mins
  • Drive to Glasgow - A738 for Irvine, A78, A738, A737, B778, A736 Auchentiber to centre
  • 29 miles, 50 mins
  • Clyde ferries
  • There are also two local river ferries; one crosses the Clyde between Renfrew and Yoker, the other between Gourock, Kilcreggan and Helensburgh.

Renfrew - Yoker ferry

  • Operated by SPT
  • Crosses just 200m across the Clyde in minutes
  • Between Renfrew on the south bank & Yoker on the north
  • Sails on demand
  • Buses stop at Renfrew
  • Buses close to Yoker from Dumbarton Road, Glasgow
  • Sails 361 days, except Christmas and Boxing Day, 1st & 2nd January

Gourock - Kilcreggan - Helensburgh ferry

  • Also operated by SPT & is ideal for Loch Lomand
  • Gourock to Kilcreggan in 15 mins
  • Kilcreggan to Helensburgh 25 mins

Clyde Argyll Ferry

  • Operated privately by Western Ferries across the Firth of Clyde
  • Sails between Hunters Quay (Dunnon) and McInroy’s Point (Gourock20 mins crossing)
  • No need to pre-book
  • Sails 365 days of the year
  • Regular Citylink buses between Glasgow & McInroy's Point
