Troon Ferry Terminal is located to the north of Ayr, around eight miles away. By road the terminal can be reached along the A78 from Irvine to the north, or along the A77 from Ayr to the southwest. Glasgow lies approximately 35 miles northeast along the M77/A77. The ferry terminal is clearly signposted on all approaches to Troon.

The ferry terminal is less than a mile from Troon town centre, from where regular trains run from Glasgow Central Station, a journey of around 45 minutes, or from Ayr, a journey less than 15 minutes. National Express Coaches also travel to both Ayr and Glasgow, providing connections with most of the UK.
