I booked the Urban House hotel expecting a good quality four star hotel. The reality is a three star? guest house that aspires to be something more. The room which i stayed in looked like changing rooms may have visited ten years ago. There was no attention to detail and the room was generally grubby around the edges. Breakfast was okay though and the location within Brighton was reasonable.

I booked the room thinking it sounded a lovely hotel and although I noticed the reviews were not great, Ian wright had recommended it so I thought it would be fine!! We arrived, parking was difficult and expensive. The room appeared nice but an unclean toilet and carpet was quite evident. There was no robes, slippers as advertised and the telephone didnt work. There was no bath mat and the shower was more of a dribble than a shower! Overall very disappointed for the extra money paid as it was supposed to be a special weekend. We did complain to reception with no comeback! Maybe dont bother!

After having a stressful week at work, my boyfriend and I decided to book a last minute getaway. My god, thank goodness we did!! After trawling the net to find something different and unique we came across this place. From the moment we arrived we were treated and looked after with top class service.
The next morning we booked spa treatments which they cater for couples. This included massage, sauna & steam room. It was exactly what we needed and felt rejuvenated. Later on in the evening we had drinks in the bar with guests of the hotel and residents of Brighton who have found this treasure. The owners kept the happy spirit alive and made sure everyone felt welcome. I am normally a very critical person but I could find no fault with this establishment. The owners have obviously put alot of thought and work into building this. The rooms are spotless and spacious. I would, sorry we would, defintely come back and stay again. Infact, we have booked to stay again in November for our anniversary! If you're looking for a top class place, value for money then look no further! Trust me, you will be impressed. Don't take my word for it try it yourself! Thank you to all at Urban House in making our stay magnificent!

Just stayed at this small hotel with my boyfriend. He booked a spa package for us both, and it was the best treatment we have had.The room was ideal for us- only thing the telephone wasn't working and we weren't informed. Apart from that...Great hotel, great atmosphere, great weekend. Would definately return.

After 30 years of travelling on business and for pleasure this has become the worst hotel on my list (and it is a short list as I find hotels very willing to accommodate special needs and correct problems. Please don't waste your money on this hotel.- Staff were inattentive- Several attempts to set up a massage time, no return call to mobile phone- Telephone in the room did not work- Toilet would not flush (and not repaired by staff after informing them of the condition)- Several lights in the room were burned out- No wireless internet as advertised- Area of town very noisy, especially on Saturday night as guests in the hotel were partying till 0400.- "fruit basket' on arrival were four very stale apples.
