Transport Travel Guide 

The Brighton, Worthing and Hastings region is easily accessible from all directions by road, rail, air and sea.

The closest airports for flights to and from Brighton and surrounds are London Gatwick (28 miles, approx 30 mins drive from Brighton) and London Heathrow Airport (70 miles, approx 1 hour 15 mins drive from Brighton).

Newhaven Harbour is just nine miles from Brighton and has regular ferries to France. Dover is 79 miles from Brighton and also has regular ferries to France and Belgium.

Travelling by train is easy. Most major towns have mainline rail network links to London, with the rest of the country accessible from there. The train journey from Brighton is just 1 hour and Eastbourne 1 hour 25 mins to London Victoria.

The drive along the south coast between Beachy Head & Brighton has some stunning scenery. The town of Littlehampton is to the west and then along the coastal A27 east are the towns of Worthing, Hove and Brighton. The A259 to the Port of Newhaven continues in a south-easterly direction to Eastbourne. From Brighton the A27 moves inland to Polegate, passing Lewes and heading east through Bexhill, Hastings and Rye, towards the coastal towns of Kent.
