Hastings & Battle Travel Guide

Site of one of the most famous battles in English history, Hastings is steeped in history. Retaining much of the medieval character that harks back to the time it was one of the mighty Cinque Ports, Hastings is crammed with ancient buildings and museums. A few miles down the road you can visit Battle Abbey, which marks the spot where King Harold was killed; William the Conqueror promised the Pope he would build a church to atone for the loss of life.
