Sheffield Park Garden is another creation of the infamous Capability Brown in the 18th century.
It is based around four lakes connected by waterfalls and prides itself on being a garden for all seasons. It is particularly fine in spring and early summer when bluebells and daffodils give way to rhododendrons, and then again in autumn - when all the different varieties of trees here begin to turn it is simply breathtaking.
Catch a crisp blue day in late October to get the best of the reds in one of the most magnificent woodland gardens in the country. The mansion is privately owned and not open to the public.
