Firle Place is the home of the Gage family and has been for over 500 years. It is set at the foot of the South Downs within its own parkland.
This unique house was originally Tudor and over the years parts were added on. There are still parts of the Tudor house - a great hall, tearoom area and dining room.
The house is made of Caen Stone brought from France and also from the old monesteries in Lewes. It was remodelled in the 18th Century and is now similar to a French Chateau in appearence.
The house contains three family collections of English & European paintings and furniture from the 15th to 21st Century.
