Situated around six miles to the west of Bournemouth, Poole Harbour is one of the worlds largest natural harbours, an environment shared by both the larger cross channel ferries and cargo ships as well as the yachtsmen and a local fishing fleet.
The 'Bramble Bush Bay' chain ferry runs a regular, all year round car ferry service to connect Sandbanks with the Studland peninsula across the mouth of the harbour.
The mudflats and salt marshes are home to a multitude of wildlife. During the tourist season it is possible to take a sightseeing tour from one of the many vessels which operate from Poole Quay to Brownsea Island and the other islands in the Harbour.
