Not strictly an island, this area is in fact a peninsula but being surrounded by water it would seem like splitting hairs to quibble. Lying at the south-westerly edge of Poole Harbour, Swanage offers safe bathing and family fun, while Wareham is great for yachting enthusiasts and you will find an effigy of Lawrence of Arabia in full Arab dress in the local church.
