Kent Travel Guide

While stretches of the coast are delightful, Kent has suffered from coastal tourism since Victorian times. Known as 'the garden of England', its rural country is famous for its brewing tradition and is littered with distinctive hop houses. The Weald is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty worth exploring. Tonbridge Wells is a refined town on the River Medway, Tenterden has a beautiful High St while Canterbury, with its impressive cathedral was immortalised by Chaucer. Leeds Castle, near Maidstone is also stunning.

The Burns Supper was started a few years after his death by a group of his friends; they held the supper to honour and remember Burns. The tradition caught on and the ritual of Burns Supper is now held all around the world.

His life and work will be celebrated throughout the year at many Burns-related events.
