1 hour direct service from London Waterloo

  • Approx 7 hours from Edinburgh; requires tube between London Kings Cross and Waterloo
  • 2 hours 20 mins from Cardiff; requires change at Reading

The area has excellent local train services and Intercity links to London and the rest of the UK. Both Winchester and Basingstoke stations are on the main line to London, with direct trains to Waterloo Station and the Eurostar Terminus. Many trains to other parts of the UK require a change at Reading Railway Station.

Key operators within the region are:

Southwest Trains which have routes from London Waterloo along the south coast, passing through Basingstoke and Winchester.

Thames Trains provide routes between Basingstoke and London Paddington.

Virgin Trains provide routes from Wales, Scotland, the north & the midlands through Basingsoke and Winchester, travelling on to Bournemouth and Southampton on the south coast.
