Abergavenny Castle

Abergavenny castle is a fantastic day out for all the whole family, located on a spur above the beautiful River Usk, so the castle was in a good position to secure the valley and stop Welsh incursions into the lowlands.

  • Enough of the castle still remains to show how magnificent and impressive it once was. From the early times this was an important castle, it was the headquarters of the Norman lordship of Abergavenny, used for accommodation for kings if they were in the area.
