The UK south coast ferry ports have good road links via the M4 and mainline rail links into south Wales, making travel from Europe - and onwards to Brecon - an attractive way of getting to the area.

Southampton to Brecon:

  • A33, M3, M4, A449, A40 for Abergavenny & B4601 into Brecon
  • 164 miles
  • 3 hours 10 mins approx
  • Swansea is the hub for ferry travel between the Brecon Beacons & Ireland, with onward road, bus and train connections to the National Park.

Ferries sail between Rosslare and Fishguard and from Rosslare to Pembroke all year, between Cork and Swansea from March to January All ports have transport to Swansea and its connections to Brecon, Abergavenny, Llandovery, Ruilth and Llandrindrod Wells.

Swansea to Brecon:

  • A483, A4217, A4067 to Defynnog, A40 & B4601 into Brecon
  • 40 miles approx
  • 1 hour
