Aberdaron

Overview

Aberdaron has long been the last port of call for pilgrims making their way to Bardsey Island (Ynys Enlli) a tradition that continues to this day. As such, the small traditional white-washed Welsh fishing village is a pretty spot often overlooked.

Situated in a small valley on the River Daron, from where it gets its name, Aberdaron has a great beach right on its doorstep which can get busy in summer and nearby the wonderful secluded cove of Porthor, or "Whistling Sands" on account of its fine white sand which whistles in the wind.

As well as visiting beautiful Bardsey Island, it is possible to do fishing trips and seal, dolphin or bird watching boat trips.
