Holyhead is Anglesey's largest town and situated on Holy Island on the north coast of the island; it is best known for its ferry port - these days Dublin is just over an hour and a half away.
The town does have some attractions to tempt travellers to stay a while - fishing, sailing, golfing, a theatre, a cinema, restaurants and bars, as well as a number of places of historical interest.
It is a pity, because the surrounding countryside and coastline is stunning - South Stack is postcard perfect - and it is well worth getting out and exploring.
