Aberystwyth is approximately 100 miles from Holyhead for ferries to Dublin & Dun Laoghaire and 56 miles from Fishguard for ferries to Rosslare.

Driving is the easiest way to travel from ferry ports to Cardigan as public transport is pretty scarce and train journeys often involve detours inland.

  • From Europe
  • Aberystwyth has road, rail and coach links to the rest of the UK including the south coast ports.

Most trains to the Cardigan Bay area involve travelling via Shrewsbury. National Express coaches stop at Aberystwyth and Newtown. Again, driving is the quickest and easiest method of onwards travel.

Portsmouth to Aberystwyth

  • By car - 243 miles, 5 hours
  • By coach - 9 hours 30 mins; change at Birmingham
  • By train - 6 hours 30 mins; change at Wolverhampton, Reading and Guildford
