Colwyn Bay is along the coast from Llandudno and has a lovely, sandy beach stretching for three miles. Colwyn has all the typical seaside amusements to keep children and adults entertained; it boasts a promenade that stretches from Colwyn to Penrhyn Bay in the west.

Activity lovers will find this a good place for walking, cycling and water sports and if that doesn’t appeal you will find the Welsh Mountain Zoo set on a hillside above Colwyn Bay.

  • Places of historic interest in the area include the tiny 6th century chapel of St. Trillo, on the beach at Rhos-on-Sea. According to local legend Madoc - Son of Owain Gwynedd began his voyage of discovery from here to the Americas in 1170, more than 3 centuries before Columbus.
