Passenger ferry ports at Mostyn, Holyhead and Merseyside are all within a short distance from the Welsh north coast beaches and resorts.

  • Mostyn in Flintshire, just a few miles east of Prestatyn, has passenger ferry services to Dublin.
  • Ferries sail from Holyhead to Dublin and Dun Laoghaire and from Liverpool to Dublin.

It is a fairly long journey - by English standards - from the main south coast ferry ports but fast motorways, express coaches and mainline train services are available for onwards travel to the area.

Wrexham to Portsmouth

  • 233 miles drive, 4 hours 30 mins approx
  • By coach - 10 hours 30 mins, change at Birmingham or London
  • By train - 6 hours, three changes, Wolverhampton, Reading and Guildford
