Denbigh, like many other Welsh towns, stands in the shadow of a medieval castle, which was built by Edward I to deter a Welsh nationalist uprising and Denbigh Castle is widely held to be one of the strongest fortifications in the country. Mold is the antithesis of historic Denbigh, it is a relatively modern centre and the county town of Clwyd. It makes a great base for exploring the beautiful Clywdian Range.
